We must keep our military bases. I am an ex Army and Air Force NCO. Are we really ready to fight terror in our own Country if Military bases keep closing or reducing their manning? This base is too important for the War on Terrorism and Homeland Defense; think about it, twice!

As someone who grew up in the Niagara Falls area with a father in the Air Force, I know how important the base is to our country's security due to its' strategic location and how vital it is to the area's economy. Please President Bush, do not close it.

i'm usa (ret), used to go to seneca for post services. can still use drumm but prefer nfiafb. and besides, services in this area are hard enough to get as it is, keep nf open!

I was relocated to Southern Maryland from Lancaster, NY due to the government having no jobs in the Western NY area. The ever dying area can't support another severe hit to the economy and job loss.

We use the air force base for Civil Air Patrol in our area! These kids would be devistated if they did not have this available to them. Our area is in such trouble as it is. This would hurt our area even more

Since 911 it makes even more sense to keep the Base Open. My Goodness what in the world are we thinking. We will be just opening ourselves up for another terrorist attack being so close to the Falls.

We should be pumping money into the base, allowing them to have fighters. The Rochester and Syracuse bases are much smaller. Shouldn't they be closed before Niagara? Niagara is the major base for the entire Northeastern region, the power plant, Canada, and the first response for overseas Europe. It shouldn't even be a consideration.

I ask to please keep the Niagara Falls Air Force Base open as part of our nation's security. It is at an optimal spot near international boarders. The base also is near the NYS Authority hydropower complex which also needs to be protected. I feel this area would be the first place targeted if this air force base is shut down. This base is important to the military diversification of the US and paramount to the economic vitality of the Western New York area. Keep it open. Increase funding.

Since the bombing of the Pacific fleet at Pearl Harbor, our military has made a decision to spread out through out the country in order to protect our fleets and aircrafts. Closing the air base in niagara falls and relocating the aircraft to another air field could be a costly mistake. I urge you to reconsider this decision in an effort to better protect our interests.

This is a very important Base!

I am very concerned over the decision by the Defense Department’s recommendation to close the Niagara Falls Air Force Reserve Base. I believe this is not a well informed decision for many reasons. As a retired military officer the impacts to the Armed Services is my greatest concern. Having witnessed first hand from an active duty military standpoint the contributions to contingency operations provided by the units stationed at Niagara Falls AFRB. Closing this Base would be a great mistake to National security and operational support to servicemen deployed and stationed overseas. And for this, I urge the BRAC Commission to reconsider this decision and remove the Niagara Falls Air Force Reserve Base from the list. Continued critical support of contingency operations will be severely impacted if the support has to come from the Midwest such as Little Rock. Secondly, the impact to Western New York will only exacerbate, and or accelerate the already spiraling economic decline of our troubled economy. This installation is one of the largest employers in the Western New York, and also provides essential support services to the community as well as to active duty and retired military living in this area.

Please don't close this base. Thank you for your consideration!

I trained and served at this base as an army reservist. It is an extremely important base that is vital to our area. Recently, I was at the base to watch my son return from activation for the Iraq war. The support and pride of the people there was overwhelming. Our community gives back to the entire country ten fold through this air base. Please reconsider its closing.

This Airbase is a must in New York State , With the falls providing most of the power for all of the State including Nwe York City. Plus with our economy the way it is we need the jobs.

I used to work next to the office of the Niagara Falls Air Base at the old Bell Aircraft Plant. This base is essential to the people of Niagara Falls and surrounding towns. Please do not let it be closed down. Thank you!

Having formerly served in the Air Force myself I can vouch for the influence of a base on the community and vice-versa . Niagara Falls ( and WNY at large) needs this base and our country's air force needs this connection to a community of Americans with the values and record of faithful service that we have here.

I wholeheartedly support your efforts to keep Niagara's Air Base open. It is critical to the economy and the morale of the area. So many of our community have served their country through this base... and it's existence here has certainly forged a strong and vibrant connection with our country based on civic pride and service via the military.
